Ha! I kid you not it's been far too long since I wrote my last blog post... To be honest I kinda forgot about it solely due to me being either lazy or too busy. Ha ha ha me being busy... It's funny actually how fast that transition happens. From a simple college student to one that's graduating by the end of this year, yea it's been rough... In a very insightful way. This is why I thought of blowing the dust off this blog so that I can write my mind and share my thoughts.
Anyhoo let's start with the first cool thing that happened in the time 'In-Between'... lol. Since May rolled in, I started working on my graduation project which is going to be this really cool world I'm building and setting a story inside. Spoilers? It's about this teenager named Hue, who very recently lost his last guardian, his mother. And now he is having to deal with 'intruders' relatives who have casually encroached on his home. He gets bullied and abused by pretty much the whole family and is fragile because of the circumstances he is in. Until... He bumps into this old man who offers him an escapade into the outside world, Grii. For context, the human kingdoms were isolated from the rest of the world's inhabitants because of their vile decisions that changed the history of the world. But yea! That kinda sums it up... Hue goes on these awesome adventures and finds new friends in this group of strangers who protect him while he fulfills his new job as a mapmaker.
This project has two parts, a written and wordy novel, and a concept art book with tidbits of lore inside. I agree you must be thinking it's an insurmountable task to do as one person, but that's just me I guess. I enjoy doing ridiculously overwhelming things because it's the best way for me to skill up. Well, this project has been going on for a while now so if anyone is interested in reading/checking it out, feel free to reach out to me and I would love to hear your feedback on it!
Moving on... During all this project extravaganza, I went on a trip to the North-Eastern states of India with my lovely mom and dad. It was a ten-day experience traveling through Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya. It was crazy good I have to say... Like if you love long drives through chilly and endlessly winding slopes surrounded by the greenest of greens there are... Then yea, it was one hell of a great trip. Filled to the brim with exploration and adventure, moms a really good planner I have to give her this credit. I mean I can go on and on, I know you want me to, but maybe another time? A separate blog perhaps? Ooh, who knows...
But a bit of brag now... As you may have seen already, I've become a lot more confident and free with my writing. Partly cause a blog doesn't; follow 'writing instructions' per se, but who cares? It's a damn blog after all and I'm not even sure if people read this thingybado. Well moving on, this improvement was a result of investing hours into carefully building my project story and working on some script work for a client on the sidelines.
Otherwise, it's been on and off you could say. A bit dull sometimes spending nights just chilling, working, playing with my discord friends. Music has been really nice to me, it's fun discovering new stuff. Oh and some great shows and movies too! OOH! That reminds me of another cool thing that happened with my college friends in mid-July. We planned a short two-day trip to my parent's farmhouse in this place called Lonavala... Ugh, I'm feeling very lazy to type out the whole story so let me find and copy-paste a bit of the email I sent to a certain someone awesome! (Stay tuned to find out :P). Ah, there we go found it!
A couple of weeks ago I finally got to plan and execute a weekend getaway to Lonavla (A hill station) with five of my college friends. Lonavla is this super awesome super chilly sweet spot located on the slopes of the Western Ghats of India. Going in peak season meant that it storms there 24/7 with the most unpredictable weather one could imagine. One minute it's sunny and before you know it a dense fog or sheets of rain change the ambiance. Well, the rain helped cover all the loud music we were playing on the balcony while we enjoyed ourselves with board games, cards, and a metric ton of snacks. IT WAS FUN! We spent a day going to this awesome spot I know which serves the best vada pav (Maharashtrian snack) in all of existence. Later, we hit the marketplace where surprisingly I got to hit all the stalls on my list (I have a list because I go to this place with my family a lot and it was my mom who encouraged me to bring my friends). My best memory would be of the night two of my best friends chilling in the dark on the balcony with our feet soaked in buckets of hot water while we sipped wine (It was cranberry juice for me haha).
[Intermission] Phew... This is becoming a gigantic blog post... Gyahhaah! I mean it's expected after disappearing for months altogether right?
Ahh... Let's get back to this special awesome someone I mentioned before. So I started heckling people working at DreamWorks to build connections and maybe just start a conversation, anything really... But nothing budged and it was really sad... Until months later this special someone who is a script coordinator at DreamWorks reached out to me and offered to have my first and one of the best informational interviews of my life (Yes I can say that since I'm still in my youth :P). Really cool things happened, I feel like I made a new friend and finally dented this damned brick wall before me. 'The brick wall of cracking into the industry' people call it, it's really intimidating and scary I must warn you. But that's just life throwing challenges your way. Now that's a conversation for another time. Well, to finish this off, I'm incredibly grateful to this person who basically reignited my hopes and desires to push harder to reach my unreasonably hard goals.
So yea! That's catchup I guess... Ah yes, I almost forgot, I even turned twenty-three this July. Man, this is a strange feeling, growing up you know. I'm sure we all have had that moment where we felt it deep within our bones, like all those electric currents shooting up and down our spines.
Alright, I have officially spent too much time writing this and must get back to writing my project. I hope this dive into my life was worthwhile. I may not have covered everything that happened in the 'In-Between' but It's fine, something is better than nothing. With this said, I shall now click on publish.
